BDS student run over by lorry

A student of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) was crushed to death under the wheels of a lorry at Madinaguda in Miyapur on Sunday. The police said Mukesh Reddy (19) hailing from Sangareddy in Medak district fell down while trying to board a moving bus and came under the wheels of the lorry coming from behind. Death was instant for the student, the police said.

Woman ends life

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping from a building at Karmanghat under the Saroornagar police station limits on Sunday.

The police said Sunitha was married to Venkatesh a year ago. On coming to know that she was suffering from convulsions, the family had been demanding additional dowry, the police said. On Sunday, family elders gathered for a discussion where Venkatesh told them that he wanted to divorce Sunitha. Unable to bear the humiliation, she ended her life by jumping from the building, according to the police.

Family of four held for passport fraud

The police on Sunday arrested a couple and their two sons for allegedly obtaining multiple passports on fictitious names.

The arrested have been identified as Murad Ali (48) and his wife Gulshan Murad Ali (47) and their two sons Hirani Althaf (26) and Moiz Hirani (21).

The family resides at Chirag Ali Lane, Abids. Eight passports were seized from them.

In 1999-2000, Ali visited Singapore and Thailand using these passports. He also attended an interview at the Canadian Embassy in New Delhi on the passport obtained through fictitious name to visit Canada, but was arrested by the Delhi Police.

On receiving information, Ali’s wife reportedly destroyed her passport along with those of her sons which were obtained on fictitious names, the police said.
