Bank staffer commits suicide at workplace

An employee of a nationalised bank committed suicide by hanging in the bank’s storeroom, at Ramanthapur under Uppal police station limits on Thursday.

Police said G. Kiran Kumar (26) of Uppal had come to the bank at around 8.30 a.m. While the bank manager was busy attending to regular work, Kumar went upstairs to clean the storeroom. He was unavailable when the manager sought him out a little while later.

The latter went upstairs and opened the storeroom door, only to find Kumar hanging.

Uppal Sub-Inspector T. Kiran Kumar said he might have taken the drastic step due to personal problems. No suicide note was found.

Youth dies of snakebite

A 19 year-old youth died of snakebite at Gagan Pahad on Wednesday night, police said. J. Purushotam, who hails from Adilabad, was an employee of Suma Foods Pvt. Ltd at Gagan Pahad in Shamshabad and stayed at the company quarters. He was at the workers’ quarters when he was bitten by the snake.

Purushotam was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment, police added.

Baby’s fatal fall

In a separate incident, an 18-month-old baby boy, G. Sandeep, who suffered a serious head injury after accidentally falling to the ground at his house in Indirammanagar in Begumpet five days ago, died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Thursday. The incident occurred when the boy was playing outside the house.

Man dies

K. Srinu (45), an agriculture labourer from Balanagar, who was undergoing treatment after consuming poison at his house on Monday, died on Wednesday, police said. The deceased ended his life due to family problems, police added.

Woman succumbs

A housewife K. Kavita, (20), from Lalithabagh who suffered burns while cooking at her house on July 21, died while undergoing treatment at OGH on Wednesday, police said. The woman was admitted to the hospital, where she succumbed to her burns. Chatrinaka police are investigating.

Domestic help held

Cyberabad police on Thursday arrested a domestic help J. Laxmi for allegedly stealing gold ornaments from her employer’s house at Bandlaguda in Rajendranagar.

Police said Laxmi’s employer David Raj had handed over the keys of the house before leaving for Bangalore along with his family. A couple of days later, the family returned home, only to find that their house had been burgled. Based on Raj’s complaint, police booked a case and nabbed Laxmi.
