Awareness camp on cancer held at Apollo Hospital

To spread awareness among the youth on breast cancer, Apollo Cancer Hospital on Tuesday organised a campaign “Let’s be in pink of health - fight cancer’ which was attended among others by actress Poonam Kaur, Asian Games 2014 badminton medallists Sikki Reddy and Pradnya Gadre and the hospital director Vijay Anand Reddy.

Students from St. Ann’s College for Women, Loyola Academy Degree & PG College and Wesley Degree College for Women joined the campaign and took a pledge on following simple tips, healthy diet habits and doing regular exercise, according to a press release.

Poonam Kaur, while addressing the gathering, underscored the need for healthy diet and regular exercise apart from smokers giving up the habit to keep cancer at bay. Dr.Vijay Anand Reddy said 1.25 lakh new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year in the country and breast cancer constitutes 22 per cent of all cancers in women.
