Auto drivers issued digital identity cards by traffic police

‘It will bring in a sense of responsibility among drivers’

City police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu distributing digital identity cards to the auto drivers in the city to ensure safety of passengers in Warangal on Friday.

The auto drivers in the city have been issued digital identity cards by the city traffic police to ensure passenger safety.

City Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said the details of autorickshaws and drivers were digitised and a card bearing QR code was given to each auto driver. The same would be displayed on the autorickshaw, which passengers can scan to get the complete details of the vehicle and driver, which could be handy during emergencies. The information would be made available to all the police stations.

“The city is growing enormously. The heritage monuments are attracting lot of people from around the globe.

It is the duty of the auto-drivers to ensure safety of tourists and behave gently with strangers to bring a good image to the city,” he said.The Commissioner said the digital cards being issued to the drivers would help bring in a sense of responsibility among them.

DCP Venkat Reddy, additional DCPs Muralidha, Puja and Ashok Kumar, ACPs Shobhan Kumar, Rajendra Prasad, Prabhakar Rao, Janardhan were present.
