Unidentified persons broke into four houses at Mallapur in Pahadishareef on Tuesday night and made away with 40 tolas of gold ornaments, Rs.2 lakh cash and other articles.

The miscreants first broke into the house of a businessman, M.A. Bari whose family was busy with the marriage function of his son, Shareef, at Santoshnagar. The family members locked their house located at Mega Dream Colony in Mallapur and left for the function hall in the evening.

“The miscreants removed the window grill and entered the house. They broke open doors, almirahs and took away the property,” K. Sudarshan Reddy, Detective Inspector Pahadishareef police station said.

The gang then moved to other adjoining houses of Md. Jalaluddin, Ghouse and Mukaram Ali in the neighbourhood and decamped with some gold and cash, the police said.

The two of the families went to attend Shareef’s wedding.

On receipt of information, the Pahadishareef police visited the spot. A clues team and a dog squad were summoned to assist in the investigation. Police suspect that gang members were attracted by the serial bulbs used to decorate the house of Mr. Bari and were keeping a watch on the movement of the families.
