APIIC to develop industrial clusters

APIIC MD Jayesh Ranjan said the process of acquiring the land for the purpose had been initiated

Of the nearly 50,000 acres earmarked under industrial zone by the Master Plan for Hyderabad Metropolitan Region, the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has already identified 31,000 acres for development of industrial clusters.

Participating in a meeting on the Metropolitan Development Plan-2031 for Hyderabad Metropolitan Region organised by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Wednesday, APIIC Managing Director Jayesh Ranjan said the process of acquiring the land had been initiated.

“The district administration concerned has been approached for 13,800 acres and requests for another 17,000 acres will be made soon. There are government waste lands and some in private possession, we have asked the Revenue Department and the local administration about them,” he said.

The APIIC would encourage cluster growth where industries of the same output come together with the corporation providing the required infrastructure.

Also, there were plans to act as an employment exchange of sorts to address manpower requirements in these clusters, Mr. Ranjan said.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority Commissioner Neerabh Kumar Prasad advised the industries to get into cluster growth instead of seeking land use changes at a later date.

The HMDA was also keen on promoting the concept of land pooling for which discussions were on with real estate developers’ associations.

Other issues that the HMDA was working on include layout-based development and development of appropriate road network for the outer fringes of the city in the form of Regional Ring Road. FAPPCI president Devendra Surana and others participated in the meeting.
