AP SSC exams: Residential schools steal the show

Jubilant students belonging to schools run by the AP Social Welfare Residential Education Society after the results of the SSC exam were declared on Friday.

With many students scoring 10/ 10 GPA in the SSC examinations, schools run by the Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Education Society stole a march over corporate schools on Friday.

About 14,000 students appeared for the SSC examination out of which 13,213 students cleared the examinations, a majority of them with flying colours, a press release said on Friday.

The society runs 279 Social Welfare residential schools in the State out of which 101 schools achieved 100 per cent results.

Despite converting 180 Telugu medium schools into English medium this year, the society secured a pass percentage of 94.25 per cent as against 88.08 per cent, the release said. Of the total 13,213 students who cleared the exam, 3,330 were boys and 9,883 were girls and of the total, 799 got A1 grade while 2,573 secured A2 grade.

“The results show the potential of these children,” said secretary of the society R.S. Praveen Kumar.
