AP Governor orders magisterial probe into clashes

Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan has ordered a magisterial inquiry into Kishan Bagh police firing incident where three persons were killed here on Wednesday.

Mr.Narasimhan held a meeting with the police officials to review the circumstances that led to police firing here on Thursday.

He also sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rs.6 lakh to the families of those killed in the incident and Rs.50,000 to the injured in the incident besides free medical treatment.

Compensation would also be paid as per the norms to those who lost property in the arson.

PTI adds:

Mr Narasimhan said that compensation should be paid to the victims, who lost property in the clashes that broke out between members of two communities over alleged burning of a religious flag yesterday, as per the set norms.

The Governor also appealed to people to maintain peace and tranquillity and not to believe in rumours, according to Press Secretary to the Governor.

Indefinite curfew remained in force for the second day today under Rajendranagar police station limits of Cyberabad Police Commissisonerate here with deployment of a large police force and personnel of RAF and other central para-military force in the wake of communal strife.
