It was ode to the formation of the 29{+t}{+h}State of the Indian Republic, a seamless flow of thoughts in the form of poetry. That was the day-long affair, an initiative of Telangana Sahitya Kala Vedika, which saw about 100 poets from across the State coming together to speak of the success of a six-and-a-half-decades dream.
Among those who participated were eminent poets Andesri, Goreti Venkanna, Ammangi Venugopal, Naleswaram Shankaram, Yakub, Ghanta Jalandhar Reddy and filmmaker B. Narsing Rao. It was a free-for-all event, with poets reciting their thoughts on how a ‘Bangaru Telangana’ (Golden State) could be achieved, now that the new State was born.
The canvas was wide as could be, with poets talking about the Azam Jahi Mills, the Sammakka Sarakka Jathra, the glory of the Kakatiya dynasty, the Warangal Fort, Orugallu, de-silting of tanks, the Mission Kakatiya programme and of the sacrifices that people made for Telangana. The speakers underscored the need for poetry to be patronised by people. They expressed confidence that soon a new culture would be ushered in, with poetry getting its due.
