Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi was released from Adilabad District Jail on Saturday evening on conditional bail. He was greeted by a large crowd of cheering party cadres.

Mr Owaisi had spent 39 days in prison after being named accused number one in the Nirmal hate speech case. First Additional Sessions Judge A. Venkateswara Reddy had on Friday granted conditional bail to the MIM legislator. The bail formalities were completed by evening at Nirmal and at the district headquarters Adilabad.

As Mr. Owaisi came out of jail, a roar of jubilation rose from the close to 2,000 cadres who had driven down from Hyderabad, Bhainsa and Nirmal. Among the first to welcome him was MIM MLA Afsar Khan. After a few more minutes of slogan-shouting from enthusiastic party workers, Mr. Owaisi got into a bulletproof vehicle allotted to him by the Intelligence Security Wing and left for Hyderabad with an escort of two vehicles.

The police had to resort to a mild cane charge to disperse the supporters and make way for the vehicles carrying the MIM leaders. Tight security arrangements were in place along the entire route out of the District Jail and elsewhere in the district.
