After six-year hiatus, OU convocation set for June 17

Date set to June 17; IICT director to deliver convocation address

The 80th convocation of Osmania University will be held on June 17 where eminent scientist S. Chandrasekhar, director of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, and an alumnus of the university, will deliver the convocation address.

Governor and University Chancellor E.S.L. Narasimhan will also be present.

The convocation, which is being held after a gap of six years, will see all awarding of the Ph.D. degrees and PG/M.Phil/ Ph.D gold medals. Data indicates that during 2012-2019 academic years, 2,896 scholars were declared eligible for Ph.D degrees. About 300 candidates will receive gold medals.

Candidates, who passed the examinations between July 2012 and June 2018 only are eligible to apply for their degrees. However, those who obtained their Ph.D degrees up to June 11, 2019, will also be given degrees.

Eligible candidates can visit the university website (www.osmania.ac.in) to register and pay the fee online from May 16. The last date for submission of online applications for Ph.D. candidates is June 11.

Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad, is organising a two-day national conference on ‘Management Research in India’ on May 17 and 18 on its Osmania University campus.

The conference will take up a gamut of issues and challenges to be addressed by academics and public service experts through deliberations.
