An Assistant Commercial Tax Officer who was kidnapped, allegedly by his car driver and his associates, escaped by jumping out from the boot of a moving car, police said on Wednesday.
After work on Tuesday night, Radha Krishna Rao was en route to his home at Filmnagar in Banjara Hills. He had engaged Raju, a native of Adilabad, as driver a few months ago. Once the vehicle reached the Jubilee Hills check-post area, the driver stopped the car as three persons approached them.
Raju introduced them as his friends and requested the ACTO to allow them to travel in the car for some distance. As soon as they got inside, Raju changed the route of the car, while the while the other three threatened to kill Rao if he raised an alarm.

Robbed in the car
They later stopped by the wayside and snatched Mr. Rao’s bank ATM cards, other documents and mobile phone and shifted him to the car’s boot. On Wednesday morning, the car slowed down near a speed breaker when Mr. Rao managed to jump out of the boot and shouted for help.
As passers-by came to his rescue, the kidnappers sped away. Later, the ACTO was informed that he had reached Tadipatri village in Gopalpet mandal of Mahbubnagar district. He returned to the city in the evening and lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police.
