January 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Tuesday set a fresh deadline of mid-March 2015 to the GHMC, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy collecterates for acquiring 219 private properties and 85 Government vested Municipal (GVM) properties in the three metro corridors where the project is coming up.

At the weekly meeting of the special task force to keep a tab on the progress of metro rail works, he pointed out that since the ‘Traffic Block Charges’ for construction of Rail Over Bridges (ROBs) are now waived by the Ministry of Railways, the remaining issue of handing over of affected railway property will have to be taken up with the SCR authorities soon.

At the Nagole-Mettuguda stretch which is getting completed, all the ground level works such as improving the carriage way, sidewalks and junctions in this stretch have to be taken up on priority by GMHC and HMR. For the proposed security plan for the metro rail depots and stations, he wanted the feasibility of entrusting the Government portion of the security responsibility to the State Special Protection Force (SPF). Special chief secretary, Industries & Commerce K. Pradeep Chandra, principal secretary, MA&UD M.G. Gopal, GHMC special officer & commissioner Somesh Kumar, CEO&MD, LTMRHL V.B. Gadgil and other senior officials were present.
