Aadhaar relief: linkage deadline is now Aug. 31

May 31, 2013 12:40 am | Updated November 16, 2021 10:11 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The UIDAI had earlier planned the launch of the direct transfer programme in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Chittoor, Anantapur and East Godavari districts from June 1

In much-needed relief to LPG consumers, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the last date for linking Aadhaar numbers to bank accounts and LPG consumer numbers from June 1 to August 31. LPG consumers will continue to get subsidised cylinders till August 31 and thereafter the subsidy amount will be directly credited to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

The UIDAI had planned to launch the direct transfer of LPG subsidy into Aadhaar-enabled bank accounts of LPG consumers in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Chittoor, Anantapur and East Godavari districts from June 1.

“We have been advising consumers to link their Aadhaar numbers to their bank accounts and their LPG consumer numbers at the earliest,” said Deputy Director General, UIDAI, M. V. S. Rami Reddy.

Those consumers who have their Aadhaar linkages in place will receive the subsidy credited to their bank account within 3 to 4 days of booking the first LPG cylinder. Consumers have to purchase the cylinder at prevailing market prices using the advance subsidy.

The second lot of subsidy amount will be credited on the delivery of the first cylinder and the process will continue for a maximum of nine cylinders in a year, Mr. Rami Reddy said.

Authorities said consumers can check their Aadhaar status on the UIDAI portal and through the MeeSeva facility. If their Aadhaar number has been generated, consumers can download their e-Aadhaar from the website. LPG consumers who have not yet enrolled for Aadhaar have to do so at the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centres and wait for their Aadhaar numbers to be generated.
