Pre-Departure Orientation held for students leaving for U.S.

The United States has consistently remained the most sought-after study destination for Indian students, with over 196,000 students currently enrolled in U.S. higher education institutions, said Consul-General Katherine Hadda here on Friday.

Bilateral ties

“These students have the potential to contribute significantly to furthering the U.S.-India bilateral ties. I wish them all the best for successful completion of their studies,” she said at the annual Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) held at CSE Coaching Academy at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU).

The programme was hosted by the U.S. India Educational Foundation (USIEF) for students joining U.S. universities in the fall of 2019. Every year, EducationUSA at USIEF invites Indian students leaving for the U.S. universities for PDO where important social, cultural, health, and safety issues in the U.S. are discussed.

USIEF invited current students and the alumni, including U.S. Consulate, Hyderabad, assistant Public Affairs Officer Akash Suri and faculty from U.S. universities to share their views through panel discussions. MANUU Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz also attended the opening session and addressed the students.

The event provided an opportunity for students to interact with resource-persons who have experienced the U.S. higher education system and to network with other students who would be studying in a U.S. institution in the fall of 2019.
