Youth commits suicide

November 13, 2009 09:15 pm | Updated 09:15 pm IST - HYDERABAD

A youngster preparing for competitive examinations in Hyderabad hanged himself in his hostel room at Ashoknagar on Friday, police said.

G. Subramanyam alias Subash of Nellore district had joined a coaching centre in Ashoknagar and was staying with his friend, P.V. Prasad in the hostel. Subash, police said, had called up his uncle to say that he had lost his wallet and mobile phone. Sensing the distraughtness of Subash, his uncle asked him to come to his office, but he declined.

For some unkown reason, Subash hanged himself in the room. Prasad and other hostelmates broke open the window panes to see his body hanging to the ceiling fan hook.

A suicide note purportedly written by Subash stated that none was responsible for his death. “Instead of living like a coward person, it’s better to die like a brave person. I thank all those who helped me to reach this stage,” he mentioned in the note.

Chikkadpally Sub-Inspector M. Satyanarayana said efforts were on to collect more details from his friends to ascertain the exact reasons behind the incident. The body was preserved at Gandhi Hospital mortuary and it will be handed over to the family members after their arrival from Nellore on Saturday.

The man, who was yet to be identified, was clad in white shirt with stripes and black trouser. He could have died after an iron rack fell on him when he was fast asleep, according to police.
