Traffic police identifies monsoon bottlenecks

June 26, 2010 11:54 am | Updated 11:54 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Motorists can expect a smooth drive during this monsoon as traffic police have chalked out an action plan in coordination with other departments to avoid inconvenience to them.

Police identified more than 100 spots on different stretches in twin cities, prone for water-logging whenever it rained, bringing traffic movement to a standstill.

The list was submitted to officials of GHMC, HMWS&SB and other departments to initiate measures to check stagnation of rain water.

“We wanted civic authorities to accord top priority to 60 water-logging points that disrupts traffic after heavy rainfall,” said DCP (Traffic-II) D. Ramakrishanaiah.

Police officials convened a meeting with authorities of GHMC and HMWS&SB to discuss various steps to be taken to deal with traffic problems in monsoon.

At a recent meeting, Director-General of Police R.R. Girish Kumar also suggested traffic police to prepare an action plan to ensure smooth traffic movement in monsoon.
