A suspect in theft cases, who was caught while moving in suspicious circumstances, attempted suicide by slashing his throat in Chandrayanagutta police station on Saturday.
Twenty-three-year-old Syed Shujath Ali was caught by a police patrolling party the previous night at Gaz-e-Millath colony in Chandrayanagutta and brought to police station for questioning. Inquiries revealed that he was wanted in two burglary cases in Mirchowk and Saifabad. “Even as our policemen were collecting details about his involvement over phone, Ali banged his head against the lock-up grills and later slashed his throat with a piece of blade available there on Saturday afternoon. He was treated at a local hospital. A case of suicide attempt was registered against him.

The Vanasthalipuram police on Saturday arrested three persons, Srisailam, Shekhar and Babu, who allegedly got registered a plot in Judges colony of Vanasthalipuram by furnishing fabricated documents and producing an impostor as the plot owner. According to police, Harinath, original owner of the plot admeasuring 267 square yards died in 2006. A year later, the trio got the plot registered in their name using fake documents and producing an impostor as Harinath.
3 held for murder
The Meerpet police on Saturday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a welding shop owner B. Shekhar Goud on March 19. The prime accused, M. Raju, 27, told the police that he had eliminated Goud as the latter had an affair with his unmarried sister and continued to move with her despite repeated warnings. Raju lured the victim to a secluded place in Jillelaguda offering toddy and murdered him with the help of his associates M. Rakesh, 22, and P. Yadaiah, 30, the police said.

Auto driver murder
The Commissioner’s Task Force (East) officials on Saturday arrested two persons, Syed Fareed, 20, and Santosh Mahathi, 21, for allegedly killing an auto-rickshaw driver Mudavath at Lalaguda. The duo approached the Mudavanth and requested him to give his three-wheeler to them for a few days.
“Actually, the duo planned to commit robberies by moving in that vehicle. As Mudavath refused, they eliminated him by strangulation,” the police said.
