Telangana government plans to conduct a separate counselling for Telangana students without violating the Supreme Court directives and a clear picture would emerge by Friday evening, said the newly appointed Chairman of Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), Tummala Papi Reddy.
Speaking to the media after assuming charge on Friday, Prof. Reddy said counselling will begin in a day or two as decided earlier as officials were preparing the logistics for certificate verification. He assured students and parents that the council would work in their interests and they should not worry delay in admissions.
Reminding that admissions were never done before October in the last five years, he allayed the fears of students losing academic days. “The Supreme Court has given us a direction and we will follow it and complete the admission process by August-end and start classes immediately, Prof. Reddy said. He said both the counselling schedules would be legal.

He said the JNTU-Hyderabad was also conducting inspections of the colleges and the report is likely to be submitted soon. Once the affiliations are confirmed, the concerned GOs will be issued. Prof. Reddy made it clear that the government was firm in providing quality education to engineering students and not just give engineering degrees.
Prof. Reddy also said that the TSCHE will work in close coordination with APSCHE wherever it is needed and there was no room for any confrontation. Later, he met the APSCHE Chairman, L. Venugopal Reddy in his chambers and exchanged pleasantries.
Meanwhile, the Telangana government appointed two vice-chairmen for TSCHE. Palamuru University Registrar, Prof. K. Venkatachalam and OU Arts College Principal, S. Mallesham have been appointed as the two Vice Chairmen. However, the Secretary has not been named so far though the name of Dr. Srinivasa Rao is doing the rounds. Four members were also appointed for the council.
