Leadership seeks names of agitation leaders with clean background

The TRS leadership on Monday launched elaborate consultations with party rank and file in districts to fill up about 4,000 nominated posts before the commencement of Assembly session on March 8.

The consultations of Ministers with MLAs, district and Assembly constituency in-charges of erstwhile 10 districts will continue on Tuesday.

The meetings were convened to identify right persons for right jobs from among TRS supporters who were active in the Separate Telangana agitation, sources said. The MLAs were supposed to play the pivotal role in the selection of candidates as they had an understanding about grass root workers who deserved to be rewarded.

No groupism

The MLAs have been told to should ensure a blend of old and new faces in the party in the process of selection and leave no scope for groupism by leaving out anyone out of vested interests. The MLAs will submit the lists to Ministers on Tuesday evening and it would reach Chief Minister and TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday morning. He will hold district-wise meetings for the issue of final orders, it was stated.

Mr. Rao had on Sunday evening asked the Ministers to speed up identification of party cadre for the nominated posts at State and district levels. They were mandated to select only those who were active in the agitation and worked for the party.

The Ministers will propose names to the Chief Minister for about 20 types of committees representing temples, libraries, agricultural markets and hospitals. They should also suggest names for food advisory committees and Vana Samrakshana Samitis which will also be filled by the government.

Clean image

Mr. Rao sounded caution as there was the danger of persons with controversial background getting selected.

The State government has already decided to appoint chairmen and governing bodies to corporations that were bifurcated between AP and Telangana. The Ministers identified the corporations in their respective departments at their meeting with Mr. Rao on Sunday. The lists of district-level nominated posts was also prepared.

In the ensuing phase of filling up of nominated posts, bodies for all agricultural committees will be finalised. Though many of these committees are already constituted, either the chairmen or directors were not appointed for some of them. It will be completed now. The process will also include food advisory committees at district and revenue division levels. The district level library and assignment committees will be filled up.
