TDP for white paper on liquor policy

June 11, 2010 04:48 pm | Updated 04:48 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Telugu Desam Party president, N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday charged the government with unabashedly opening the flood gates of liquor flow in the State through its skewed revenue-driven licensing policy, in total disregard to the health of the people especially the poor.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Naidu said there could be no responsible government anywhere in the world that wants to earn revenue risking the lives of people and well-being of the society.

The Telugu Desam would soon launch a campaign against the liquor policy, he said.

He went on to demand a public debate and a white paper on the liquor policy and revenue and how it is being spent, to make the people aware.
