T-Cong. to adopt two-pronged strategy to counter TRS

March 17, 2014 10:47 pm | Updated October 22, 2016 09:51 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telangana Congress leadership has decided to adopt a two-pronged strategy to take on the TRS in the run-up to the general elections.

While going all-out to expose the ‘double standards’ of TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao for reneging on his promise to merge his party with the Congress, the Telangana unit leaders are said to be exploring the possibility of wooing disgruntled TRS party men now.

Chairman of Telangana PCC campaign committee, C. Damodar Rajanarasimha, co-chairman Mohd. Ali Shabbir and TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah at an informal meeting on Monday, decided to launch a strident attack on the TRS leadership and expose the party.

Party sources said the Congress leadership was seized of a possible poaching by the TRS.

“We will pay back KCR in his own coin. We have already managed to lure JAC leaders like Addanki Dayakar and OU student JAC leaders,” a senior TPCC functionary said.

If these leaders are to be believed, serious efforts are being made to convince TRS leader Ibrahim, who was the party candidate in Mahabubnagar Assembly by-elections twice, to join the Congress.

Attempts are also being made to talk to minority elders and see that a call is issued to the minorities not to support the TRS in the elections.

Meanwhile, the campaign committee leaders have decided to meet every day and chalk out an appropriate strategy to tackle the TRS game plan.
