March 20, 2010 12:44 pm | Updated 12:44 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Unable to cope up with stress, a software engineer ended her life by setting herself ablaze in her flat at Anjaneeyanagar in Kukatpally on Friday morning, the police said.

Chella Radhika, 23, was working with a multi-national company at Gachibowli.

A suicide note purportedly written by her and found in her room stated that no one was responsible for her death. “I hate my life. I am killing myself due to stress and I cannot bear this suffering anymore,” the note said.

Police inquiries revealed that Radhika was married to her close relative Srinivas Reddy two years ago.

They were living in an apartment at Anjaneeya Nagar in Kukatpally. Reddy returned home late in the night after completing his night shift.

Around 8.30 a.m., he woke up to the screams of Radhika who set herself ablaze after locking up herself in the bedroom.

Even as Reddy was trying to break open the doors, the apartment watchman and other occupants also rushed to their flat on noticing smoke billowing from windows.

They broke open the doors. By then, Radhika died with over 90 per cent burns.

A case of suspicious death was registered. “Radhika's mother did not point out any domestic or marital problems and raised no suspicion,” police said.

Woman hangs self

In a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman hanged herself to death at her house at Banjara Hills on Friday. The victim, identified as Rani, was working as a maid servant in a businessman's house.

She took the drastic step after quarrelling with her husband Srinivas for purchasing a mobile phone without informing her, according to police.
