The burglar trio from Meerut of Uttar Pradesh, caught in Delhi with a booty of one kg of gold jewellery and Rs. 4.5 lakh burgled from a house in Hyderabad, has several strange habits.
Directly going into an apartment building looking for locked flats, without doing any reconnaissance of the locality is only one of them. Unlike other offenders, this gang moves in an autorickshaw, goes to a locality and walks into any huge apartment building that it comes across.

“If any flat is found locked, they break the lock and make off with whatever valuables they can lay their hands on,” the Malkajgiri ACP, Ch. Radhakishan Rao, said on Tuesday.
Interestingly, members of the gang take precautions to ensure that they don’t cheat one another.
They stuff the stolen articles in a gunny bag and seal it with a red plaster.

“Breaking the seal proved that one of them had stolen some of the burgled property,” the investigators said.
The accused, Mohd. Izaz, Ali Mohd. and Rasheed, would usually come to Hyerabad by train, mostly in third or fourth week of the month.
They would check into low-cost lodges at Nampally, Secunderabad or Osmangunj areas.
After burgling a flat, they would return to Delhi by train again and share the booty among themselves at Meerut.
The gang arrived in the city on September 22 last time. Three days later they broke into a flat at Sai Durga Garden apartment building and made off with one kg of gold jewellery and Rs. 4.5 lakh.
Caught in Delhi
They left for Delhi by Sampark Kranti Express only to be caught by the Delhi Crime Branch team soon after getting off the train. Interrogation revealed that there was a series of burglaries for the past 18 months.
They admitted to have burgled 15 flats so far in and around Hyderabad.
