Recalling the first day at school

Two students -- Bhargava Rama Murthy and Pavani of Class VII and Class IX -- respectively stood winners in an event for schoolchildren to speak on the topic ‘First day at my school'.

Organised by The Hindu in association with St. Anthony's High School, Jeedimetla village, the event had students from classes VII, IX and X talking about their experience on the first day at school. Other participants included I. Nikhil (Class X), S. Chaitanya, (Class IX), and Saritha (Class VII). Winners were chosen by a panel of judges consisting of Regional General Manager of The Hindu P. Ranga Reddy and Regional Manager S.D.T.Rao.

Jubilee Hills Public School

Jubilee Hills Public School conducted an orientation programme on June 19 for parents of children seeking admission into the school this academic year. Principal M. Varalakshmi introduced various facilities and activities of the school while Headmistress Radhika explained about the functioning of the primary section and rules and regulations. In another announcement, the school informed that its alumnus Sridhar Kandimalla who studied up to Class X in the school achieved 21st rank in the IIT-JEE, and 54th rank in AIEEE. Sridhar, on a recent visit to the school, thanked all the teachers and the Principal, and interacted with students.

Gitanjali Devashray

An NIIT Math Lab was introduced at the Gitanjali Devashray school on June 18, the Foundation Day of the school. Nazmul Munshi Hasan, the Head-Design and Development, NIIT, attended as the chief guest.

Gita Karan, Director of the Gitanjali group of schools said that the lab would provide a platform for students to explore Mathematics from a novel perspective and make learning an enjoyable experience.
