Police questioned P. Narayana, chairman of Narayana Group of Educational Institutions, and its three directors on Friday in connection with the investigation of a case registered against them under provisions of Copyright Act, following a complaint by the A.P. Telugu Academy.
Mr. Narayana and the three directors were let off by evening after their statements were recorded. They would be questioned again later, said Narayanaguda police inspector C. Gandhinarayana.
The A.P. Telugu Academy had filed a complaint against Mr. Narayana, his wife and daughter on July 14 alleging that its four Intermediate textbooks were being reprinted by Nishita Multimedia Publications.

The questioning of Mr. Narayana had raised quite a few eyebrows. Higher Education Minister D. Sridhar Babu later asserted that stringent action would be initiated against those found responsible for piracy.
The Minister told reporters that the police found prima facie evidence against Nishitha Multimedia Publications and this organisation was found to have connections with the Narayana Group. He said police inspected a place near Chengicherla on city outskirts where copies of the four text books were being printed.
