Fifteen-year-old Priyanka may never return to her Sahiti school in Suryapet district. But the teenager will live in others as her parents agreed to donate the organs of their brain-dead daughter.
The student was brought to Yashoda hospital in Malakpet three days ago after a speeding four-wheeler hit her at Damercharla mandal of Suryapet district. Doctors declared her brain dead after a day.
“Her parents consented to donate their daughter's organs. Jeevandan would initiate the process required for it,” the hospital spokesperson said on Thursday. Already, two lives were lost in the accident on Tuesday night at Rallabandivagu in Damercharla.

Students and teachers of Sahiti school in Suryapet town were on a trip to Sriharikota. When their bus halted around 10.40 p.m., four students and a teacher got off to answer nature's call. While they were crossing the road, a speeding four-wheeler crashed into three of them. A ninth standard student Praneshwari and teacher Shanti died on the spot. Critically injured Priyanka was shifted to the private hospital in Hyderabad.
Based on the inputs from passers-by, investigators initially believed an Innova vehicle was responsible for the accident.
For two days, they had searched at different places but finally got a tip-off from a person that the vehicle was in Damercharla mandal itself. “It was actually a Maruti Eco vehicle. Because of darkness, passers-by mistook it for an Innova. Its owner was one Shiva Shankar. After hitting the pedestrians, he sped away to Guntur,” the police said.

The vehicle was seized. Police are looking out for Shankar.
