Higher allocation likely this budget: Etala

State recorded high growth of 20 % last year

Finance Minister Etala Rajender has indicated that the budget for the next financial year could see a rise.

The Minister said the State had registered a growth of close to 20 % during the current fiscal and this could give scope for rise in the allocations for the next fiscal year. Mr. Rajender presented a budget of ₹1.3 lakh crore to the Assembly for the current fiscal which included allocation of ₹67,630 crore for plan expenditure and ₹62,685 crore non-plan expenditure.

The Minister who formally unveiled the diary brought out by the Treasury Employees Association said there could be significant impact of the GST regime, which would become operational in the next fiscal, on the budget.

Functional autonomy

The government was accordingly focussing on all sectors with special emphasis on welfare sector in the next budget to ensure that poor and marginal sections received their due.

He described the Treasury Department as heart of the State administration and said the Government had given the required freedom to the officials concerned to ensure effective implementation of the welfare and development programmes.

The State could secure the top position in terms of economic growth in the country and the officials should spare no effort to retain the ranking in the coming years too.

Acknowledging the increased workload on the employees, the Finance Minister said the Government had initiated steps to enhance the staff strength in the departments to bring down the work pressure.
