Inaugurating the two-day girl students’ conference organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Osmania University on Saturday, the Union Minister reminded how Poorna, a girl from a downtrodden section, climbed the Mount Everest fighting all odds. Such feats are true inspiration to girls.

Mr. Dattatreya said the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was taking several initiatives to ensure that girls were treated equally by the society referring to the recently launched programme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao . “We have just 2.5 lakh seats in ITIs and they will be increased to one crore,” he added.

The two-day conference will see panel discussions on law reforms, women empowerment and social leadership apart from lectures by women from various walks of life.
