Notices served on VCs, registrars, no response till date, say lecturers

HYDERABAD: Contract lecturers across the State are getting ready for an indefinite strike from February 14 seeking regularisation of their services. As a part of the run-up to the agitation, a poster was released here on Saturday.

The slogan was ‘Equal Pay for Equal Work’, job security and regularisation of their services. Also, they wanted self-financed courses to be made regular courses, part-time and guest lecturers to be made regular Assistant Professors, said a press release.

The agitated lecturers regretted that though they had served notices on vice-chancellors and registrars 45 days ago, there was no reaction from neither the university administration nor the Government.

They have chalked out a schedule accordingly to which they would stage dharnas before administration offices on February 8, wear black badges on February 9, ‘Chalk down’ protest on February 10 and take out rallies on February 13.
