Cash award by KTR to sanitation worker

T. Venkataiah to be felicitated at the launch of Swachh Survekeshan

Hard work indeed paid off for 79-year-old T. Venkataiah, a sanitary worker with GHMC, and only one of the two recipients of an award in the country who will be felicitated at the launch of Swachh Survekeshan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Friday, the man who has 100% attendance at work to his credit, was presented with cheques for more than Rs 2 lakh. At the Secretariat, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban development, Telangana, KT Rama Rao handed over a cheque for Rs 1,11,111 to Venkataiah as a gesture of appreciation.

During the felicitation function, GHMC Mayor B. Rammohan and Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy presented him with a cheque for Rs 1 lakh. The Minister who praised the hard work and dedication of Venkataih said that he was an inspiration to all. The Minister also instructed the GHMC officials to make all the necessary arrangements for the comfortable stay of Venkataiah during his Delhi visit.

Interacting with the Minister, Venkataiah said that he would not get a good sleep if the streets under his control were not cleaned properly. This, he said, was the reason why he not taken leave in the last 16 years.
