The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has accused the Telangana State government of “peddling lies in the court of law” to obtain stay on annulment of the GO 123 for land acquisition, and hoped that the High Court would lift the stay in the next hearing, after listening to the farmers and other displaced.
Through a press release on Tuesday after the interim order was passed granting a stay on an earlier order by single judge, the party said the government tried to inveigle the court through its affidavit. It is always possible for the government to cheat the people through GOs, and hence, the Land Acquisition Act, 2013 should be implemented in letter and spirit, the press note demanded.
Farmers, and not agricultural labourers alone, would incur losses due to GO 123, the party claimed, hailing the High Court’s refusal to allow registrations during the stay period. Arguments would be put forth for cancellation of the GO on Thursday, it said.

The Telangana Bhoonirvasithula Porata Committee (Struggle committee for the land oustees of Telangana) also expressed disappointment at the stay on the annulment of the government order, and debunked the government’s contention that the lands are being bought at market rate. The Act seeks payment of thrice the market price for the lands, it pointed out in a press release on Tuesday.
Compensation for loss of livelihood does not merely apply for agricultural labourers and landless artisans, but also to the farmers, which has been ignored by the GO 123, the press note said.
