Appeals dismissed

The High Court here has dismissed six appeals filed by 15 persons convicted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court in a case of possessing and circulating fake Indian currency notes.

On February 19, 2015, the NIA court cum First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court sentenced them to jail terms ranging from four to five years under different sections of law in the case. The 15 convicts moved the High Court challenging the judgment passed by lower court.

On January 20 this year, The High Court dismissed the appeals made by three convicts Masood Akthar, Mohammed Shafi and Shaik Akram. Appeals filed by 12 others in the same case were also dismissed five days ago.
