The seventh anniversary of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s indefinite hunger strike seeking statehood to Telangana, launched on November 29 in 2009, was observed across the State and in Delhi by party rank and file and others.
In Hyderabad, the anniversary was observed as Deeksha Diwas organised by Telangana Jagruthi at Indira Park where a large number of TRS supporters and leaders gathered to recollect the 2009 agitation of Mr. Rao that ultimately led to formation of Telangana state by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at the meeting, Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy said Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had risked his life in the fight for statehood to Telangana by launching the indefinite hunger strike in 2009.

After achieving statehood, he was governing the State with the sole aim of developing Telangana in all fields and uplifting the poor, he said.
Blood donation
Mayor Bonthu Rammohan inaugurated a blood donation camp organised by the TRS youth wing in the party headquarters here, Telangana Bhavan, and Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy unveiled a statue of Telangana Thalli at Nalgonda town.

Public meetings and blood donation camps were organised by the TRS ranks at many places across the State on the occasion.
In Delhi, Deeksha Diwas was observed by garlanding the statue of Telangana Thalli and portrait of Telangana ideolgue K. Jayashankar at Telangana Bhavan there. Party MPs K. Keshava Rao, A.P. Jithender Reddy, D. Srinivas, K. Kavitha, V. Lakshmikanth Rao, B. Suman, B. Narasiah Goud, Y. Vishveshwar Reddy, P. Dayakar, C. Malla Reddy, and K. Prbhakar Reddy participated in the event and paid homage to the martyrs to the Telangana cause.
