It’s a triangular contest between Congress, TDP and the BJP in the forthcoming GHMC elections in Amberpet assembly constituency with candidates leaving no stone unturned in ensuring their victory.
Despite 61 candidates are in the fray, the key contest would be between Congress, TDP and BJP candidates in all the seven municipal divisions in the constituency. While Congress candidates are banking on welfare programmes introduced by the former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, TDP contestants are relying on works executed during the TDP rule and BJP candidates are promoting the developmental programmes taken up by legislator G. Kishan Reddy in the constituency.
The contestants are putting their best to gain the confidence of voters in seven divisions – Amberpet, Bagh Amberpet, Golnaka, Vidyanagar, Barkatpura, Nallakunta and Kacheguda. They are mainly focusing on door-to-door campaign responding to issues raised by voters. With considerable chunk of minorities residing in Amberpet and surrounding areas, contestants are trying to woo them and they could well play a crucial role in deciding the fate of contestants.

Though Praja Rajyam and Lok Satta candidates claim to have little presence, they are trying to garner support of the electorate highlighting the local civic issues.
For last few years, the constituency is beset with bad roads, overflowing drainage water, heaps of garbage and traffic gridlocks. Most colonies are plagued with overflowing garbage bins and that have not been cleared for weeks together.
