Telangana government on Tuesday constituted a five-member committee with senior officers to decide and finalise the construction of new secretariat building complex at Chest Hospital in Erragadda.
According to a GO issued by the General Administration department, the five-member committee headed by Principal Secretary (Political) as chairman and Principal Secretaries – MA & UD, Revenue, Transport, Roads and Buildings and Finance department were made members. Incidentally, the government also sanctioned Rs. 150 crore for construction of the office buildings.
The committee would look into the construction of the new building complex. It would also decide on cadre strength of each administrative department of secretariat, cadre strength of each Head of Department, identify HoD to be accommodated in the new secretariat.

The panel is also tasked with finalising the space required for the Chief Minister and his office and that of each minister and concerned administrative department and HoD. It will also decide on plan and design, alienation of land in favour of GAD. It will also study other issues related to the construction of the new secretariat building.
The committee has been asked to study the construction of chief minister’s residence, dismantling of the existing quarters, decide plan/design and total plinth area. Construction of quarters of All India Service officers on the premises of the Mental Hospital, Erragadda, will also form part of the committee’s task. It will take a decision on construction of independent houses.
