₹54 lakh awarded to accident victim’s kin

In a historic judgment, the National Lok Adalat held here awarded ₹ 54 lakh to the family of a person who died in a road accident.

Sangram Giri, an employee of the Education Department, died in a road accident, which came up for arbitration at the Lok Adalat. After mutual consent, ₹54 lakh was awarded to the kin of the deceased. Of the total amount, ₹ 8 lakh would be paid to the victim’s mother, while the remaining would go to his wife and three children.

National Lok Adalat was held at the district court on Sunday. The programme was presided over by District Legal Services Authority secretary Judge M. Bhavani. District Principle and Session Judge B. Sai Kalyana Chakravarthy was the chief guest for the programme.
