₹500 fine for occupying reserved seats in metro

Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) and L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad have warned passengers against occupying seats reserved for ladies, disabled and senior citizens. Failure to comply could lead to fine up to ₹500.

At a joint meeting on Monday, it was decided that one security personnel would be deployed at each metro coach and police vigil increasedin light of complaints from passengers.

HMR MD N.V.S. Reddy said the L&TMRH authorities have also been requested to come out with an exclusive WhatsApp number for women commuters to register complaints.

At the meeting, it was also resolved to have a three-member special enforcement teams consisting of police, engineering and town planning personnel to keep constant watch on women passengers and pedestrians.

With regard to cleanliness around metro stations, he wanted better upkeep, more saplings and stern action against encroachment on public spaces and completion of civil works between L.B. Nagar and Miyapur.
