30-year-old mentally retarded woman raped in Hyderabad

A 30-year-old mentally retarded woman was sexually assaulted by her neighbour in Bhupesh Gupta Nagar in Meerpet in the late hours of Thursday.

The woman was fast asleep on the terrace of the house along with her father and two brothers when the accused, Shaik Basha went up the terrace an hour after midnight and raped her, Meerpet Inspector T. Ravinder said.

Basha, a painter, fled from the spot when the woman raised an alarm. Forty-year-old Basha is married and has two children. A rape case has been registered against the accused and a manhunt launched to arrest him.
