A civil services aspirant ended his life by hanging in his room at Jawaharnagar, under Chikkadpally police station limits on Wednesday, as he was depressed at repeatedly failing the exams.

M. Vinod (27) of Guntur had been preparing for the exams for the past three years. He was staying at his friend’s room, police said.

The incident came to light after Vinod failed to respond when his roommate knocked on the door. With the help of other friends, he broke open the door and found Vinod hanging from the ceiling fan, police said. A suicide note, purportedly written by Vinod, was recovered from the room, in which he had stated that he was upset over failing repeatedly.
