The cyber crime cell of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested two software engineers from Bangalore for allegedly stealing software code from a city-based company and transmitting the same to a Bangalore-based firm.
The arrest was made following a complaint by the managing director of a public limited company MIC based in Kushaiguda with CID in July about theft of a patented source code and technological information by some unidentified persons. During the investigation, the CID officials arrested one Boyina Venkata Ramana, who worked earlier as the General Manager with MIC, and his friend M.N.S. Srinivas, who also worked with MIC.
The duo reportedly sold the source code and technological information to Bangalore-based GG Tronics Private Limited, CID officials said. Officials seized three laptops, six hard disks, two pen drives and nine CDs containing the source code and technology from them.
