1-year-old girl murdered, black magic alleged

A labourer ‘known for practising black magic’ is suspected to have murdered a one-year-old girl after administering sedative to her mother at Akkupally, 100 km from here, in Yalal mandal, Ranga Reddy district, in the early hours of Friday.

Narsimhulu, the prime accused in the murder, was absconding while the victim’s mother Laxmi gave conflicting versions of the incidents, the Tandur rural Circle Inspector K. Shiva Shankar said. The woman married a labourer, Bheemulu, who was already married twice but deserted his wives, two years ago. She was living alone in the village since Bheemulu had also left her some six months ago. Inquiries revealed that of late Laxmi was meeting Narsimhulu of the same village, the police said. “According to her, the latter barged into her house along with another man by kicking open the door after Thursday midnight,” the Inspector said.

The duo tied Laxmi’s hands with a rope and forced her to gulp some liquid which she believed was some sedative. “I fell asleep after that. When I woke up, I found my daughter murdered with some lemons cut into pieces and colours sprinkled on the floor,” investigators quoted her as saying.

Forensic doctors told the police that the killers strangled the girl to death with a rope.

A ligature mark was found around her neck, while her hyoid bone was found fractured in the autopsy.

Two days ago, unidentified persons left some lemons and colours in front of Laxmi’s house. Villagers suspect that someone performed black magic against Laxmi’s family while the village sarpanch got the place cleaned up with the help of workers.
