150 kg of ganja seized, 4 held

Police on Friday seized 150 kg of ganja being smuggled from Narsipatnam of Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad after arresting four persons and seizing two four-wheelers at Mettuguda.Among the arrested were T. Koteshwar Rao, 23, P. Nageshwar Rao, 22, and M. Narsimharaju, 30, -all hailing from Visakhapatnam. They were bringing the ganja packed in gunny bags in a Tata Sumo. Rathod Narsing of Narayankhed of Medak, who wanted to purchase the Ganja for Rs. 2,500 a kilo, was waiting at Mettuguda to receive the consignment when police arrived there on a tip-off.

They were shifting the Ganja from the Sumo into another car when the police caught them. Rathod wanted to make money by selling the ganja at Rs. 4,000 a kilo to needy customers. The raid was conducted by the Commissioner’s Task Force Additional DCP P. Rameshaiah.
