‘Kalyana Lakshmi for BCs from April’

Chairman of House Committee on Backward Castes B. Gangadhar Goud said that Kalyana Lakshmi scheme would be extended to BCs from April.

The House Committee, led by Mr. Gangadhar Goud, held a review meeting here on Saturday. The MLA asked the officials to take steps to increase the number of students in the hostels and ensure that all eligible students get their stipend in time. The Government is taking steps to encourage caste-based vocations, he said. Fish seed is being supplied with cent percent subsidy and so far 1.8 crore fish seed was released in different tanks, he added.

BC Welfare Association president and MLA R. Krishnaiah said that they have recommended an increase in the number of residential hostels to 800. Members of different BC associations submitted representations to the House Committee.
