March 28, 2012 02:38 pm | Updated 02:38 pm IST - NEW DELHI

A young BPO company employee was found stabbed to death under the Akshardham flyover in East Delhi on Monday night. The police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder.

Rohit (27), son of Kanta Prasad, worked for a firm in Nehru Place. He was found murdered under the flyover around 11-30 p.m. Enquiries by the police revealed that he lived with his parents, a brother and two sisters at Mayur Vihar Phase-III. “We found his bag, a purse containing Rs.700 and his mobile phone from the spot,” said a police officer.

The police then informed Rohit's father about the incident. Investigations revealed that Rohit would leave office for home around 10-30 p.m. and take an Outer Mudrika bus to Mother Dairy from where his father would pick him up every day.

Preliminary examination of the dead body revealed that Rohit was stabbed in the thighs. He had also sustained a minor cut in the knee. “It appears that he died due to excessive bleeding. However, the final post-mortem report would establish the cause of death. The body has been handed over to the father, who also works with a BPO company,” said the officer.

The police have so far not come across any eyewitness to the incident. Since Rohit's belongings were found in his possession, it does not appear to be a case of robbery. But they are probing all possible angles at this stage. They have contacted his colleagues and friends and are examining his phone records in a bid to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the murder.
