Two young women who were allegedly thrashed inside Rohini police station were being harassed for over three months, the victim’s uncle alleged.
According to the police, the women had to be questioned in connection with a case of theft that took place last December in the showroom they were working in. “They were served many notices to join the investigation but did not turn up. When the police teams went to their house to call them, they refused each time,” a police officer said.
The women’s relatives, however, said the two had no role in the theft and the police was unnecessarily harassing them. Talking to

“Policemen had been coming to their house regularly for the last three months asking them to join the investigation in the case. On Friday, they finally took them along. My niece and her friend were very badly beaten up inside the police station,” he added.
“Women personnel were also present at the police station. They tore the girl’s clothes and threatened to insert a baton inside her private parts. They were forced to confess a crime they had not even committed,” the victim’s uncle said.
Family members of the two women, who are residents of Mangolpuri, had earlier complained to area MLA Rakhi Bidlan. “We went to meet her today (Saturday) and she assured us of help,” he said.
