A youth was taught quite a lesson after the woman he was allegedly harassing caught hold of him, slapped him and then dragged him by the collar before handing him over to the police on Monday, the police said.

Another man who was with the youth managed to flee but later surrendered at the police station.

The incident happened on a road at Karol Bagh’s Gaffar Market.

The police said the woman was travelling on a cycle-rickshaw when two youth on another cycle-rickshaw started following her and passed lewd remarks.

The woman reportedly got down from the rickshaw and slapped one of the men, while the other fled the spot.

A video made by a passerby shows the woman dragging the youth by the collar and calling up the police.

“She held the man and called the police. A PCR van reached the spot and brought the youth to Karol Bagh police station. The woman also reached the police station and filed a complaint against the youth,” said a police officer.

The arrested youth was identified as Manish Kumar, a resident of Charkhi Dadri district of Haryana.

The other accused, Abhishek, later surrendered at the police station, where the complainant identified him.

Both accused arrested

“Acting on her complaint, we registered a case under IPC Section 509 [word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman]. The accused have been arrested,” said a police officer.

The accused had come to Karol Bagh to buy mobile phones. “We are also verifying if they were booked under similar cases earlier,” he added.
