Accused of beating her father to death in Noida Sector 27

A 21-year-old woman and her boyfriend have been booked for beating her father to death here on Sunday, the police said on Monday. Pooja has been arrested, while 24-year-old Dharmendra is on the run, they added.

Vishwanath Sahu died around 2.30 a.m. on Monday morning and the duo was booked after his wife lodged an FIR against them. According to the police, Mr. Sahu allegedly discovered the couple in a compromising position in his rented apartment in Sector 27’s Atta village on Sunday morning.

“My husband and I woke up to loud noises coming from our daughter’s room around 4 a.m. My husband went to Pooja’s room and found her with Dharmendra,” said Mr. Sahu’s wife Gayatri.

According to the police, Mr. Sahu started shouting at the couple. They claimed the couple thrashed Mr. Sahu, who fell down the stairs and sustained head injuries.

“Trying to escape, the man pushed my husband and he fell down the stairs. The man fled the spot,” Ms. Sahu said. The police said the victim was taken to a government hospital in Noida.

“He was bleeding from the head and had several other injuries. After treating him, we referred him to a Delhi hospital,” said a senior official from the Sector 30 Government Hospital here.

“Pooja has been arrested, while her boyfriend is on the run. We are investigating the matter,” said Anil Kumar Shahi, Station House Officer, Sector 20 police station.
