Adding to the Capital's water woes, Delhi Jal Board officials on Wednesday said the supply of raw water has gone down further.
The Wazirabad pond level has gone down to 672.8 feet as against the stipulated level of 674.5 feet which is required to maintain normal production at the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant.
A senior DJB official said Haryana is currently supplying 385 cusecs of water as against 425 cusecs to the Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant. “As a result, the present production at Haiderpur has come down to about 192 MGD as against the normal production of 210 MGD. The shortage of 18 MGD is causing hardship to approximately one million people, particularly in view of the rising temperatures in Delhi,” the official said.

With Haryana unrelenting, the Board has now asked the Upper Yamuna River Board Member-Secretary to intervene and advise Haryana. “We have asked the Board to instruct Haryana to maintain the canal level at 710 feet and allow free flow to Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant so that 425 cusecs is actually available at Haiderpur,” said the official.
