Even as Tejendra was trying to come to terms with the loss of his father Bhopal Singh, he received a call informing him about the gunshot wounds sustained by his younger siblings Poonam and Tarun.
The call was made by Bhopal Singh’s nephews Sanjay and Jeetendra who were returning home after distributing invitation cards for Tarun’s wedding when they noticed the Esteem car with injured Poonam and Tarun lying in a pool of blood on the front seat.
“We pulled them out and informed Tejendra who soon arrived there. The wounded duo was shifted to the back seat of our Swift car and Tejendra followed us in the Esteem car. We took Poonam and Tarun to a local doctor who told us to rush to a hospital immediately. When we reached the hospital, Poonam was declared brought dead on arrival, while Tarun passed away 10 minutes later,” recalled Jeetendra.

Tejendra and Jeetendra both alleged that Sonu’s family members were also behind the incident and had fled after eliminating Poonam and Tarun. The police, however, said Sonu had come to the Capital alone on Wednesday.
Tejendra said his brother-in-law and his family members always putting pressure on Poonam for dowry and their latest demand was an SUV. “We had agreed to buy one for him by selling a piece of our land. But even as we were waiting for a deal to come through, he committed the murders,” he said.
Poonam was married to Sonu in 2010 and according to Tejendra, within a month of their marriage, he had started beating her up. He said that in addition, he would not allow Poonam to visit her parents. Her latest visit came after a gap of two and a half years and still her husband was upset about it, he said.

Police sources said Sonu also suspected his wife of having an extra-marital affair and had put restrictions on her movements due to that. The couple has a three-year-old son.
